It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Liline Nugent at St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital (Edmonton) on August 5, 2011 at the age of 91 years. Liline was born in Bow Island, Alberta on April 17, 1920. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, William B. Nugent in 1990; parents, Armand and Elisabeth Nanson; sister, Jeannette (Bill) Spooner; two brothers, Joseph Nanson and John Nanson, as well as her grandson, Stephen Groenink.
Liline is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Richard) Groenink and son, William (Diane) Nugent; grandchildren, Katherine (Steve) Fett, Angella (Jim) Terenchard, Robbie (Melissa) Groenink, Jeffery Nugent, and Christine (Chris) Marsh; step-grandchildren, Justin Genereux and Michelle (Seamus) Owens; 11 great grandchildren, Peter and Johnathan Groenink, Nickolas Breen, Andrew and Serena Fett, John Richard, Aidin and Quinn Groenink , Eric, Alyson and Olivia Marsh as well as step-great grandchild, Amelia Owens. Liline also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and family members.
Liline will be remembered as a devoted mother. Her family was all important to her. Her home reflected her creative talents. She was a wonderful cook and could grow anything. She welcomed everyone with her beautiful smile and hospitality. Liline’s stamina and courage helped her overcome many obstacles throughout her lifetime.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, 7508 – 29 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta on Friday, August 12, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. with interment to follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, 5300-106 Street.
We would like to say thank you to the staff at St. Joseph’s Auxillary Hospital who looked after Liline with care and compassion, and made the last part of her life as comfortable as possible.
