Kenneth Quinn passed away quietly on July 31, 2011. He was born, lived and worked his entire life in Edmonton. In his younger years he was an accomplished tap dancer and played the accordion. He enlisted in the Armed Forces at the age of 18 and then completed his formal education and obtained his Chartered Accountant designation. Ken articled and became a partner with McCannel, Gee (& Quinn). During these years he met and married Blanche and they started their family.
Ken spent the majority of his career as President and CEO of Horne and Pitfield Foods Ltd. where he was instrumental in developing the IGA program which was successful largely because of his ability to establish and maintain close business relationships with the participating independent retailers. In his professional career and in retirement Ken served on the Boards of many major corporations as well as several years as a volunteer on the Board of Directors of the Alberta Motor Association.
Ken was a member of the Edmonton Golf and Country Club and loved to golf, travel, and spend the winters in Arizona.
