Obituary

It was with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Labuda at the age of 91.

Anna’s memory will be forever cherished by her daughters Diane Dunn, Ada (Brian) Rishaug, Helen (Chris) Galas; grandchildren Mathew, Sarah, Victoria, Caroline (David), Steven (Jill) and Carrie (Clayton); great-granddaughters Olivia and Abby. She is also survived by her brother Bronek; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley; mother Petronela; father Jozef; and brothers Franek and Mikolaj.

Anna was born in Poland and suffered many losses during World War II. She spent some time during the war nursing in a Red Cross camp in Africa where she had some of the best times of her life and made lifelong friends. After marrying in England, she and Stanley immigrated to Canada and started their family. She was a devoted mother and kind and caring friend who would open her home to anyone who needed help. Mom loved to cook and family get togethers were her favorite times. Her Polish heritage was important to her and she was a proud member of many Polish ladies’ clubs and worked tirelessly to contribute to the Polish community in the City.

A Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home (10011-114 Street, Edmonton) with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (11485-106 Street, Edmonton) with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Special thanks to mom’s companion, Lota.
