Born January 28, 1928, died peacefully on May 13, 2011 at the age of 83 years after a brief illness.
Mourned by her daughters, Catherine and Julie (Peter); her beloved grandchildren, Carolyn and Stephen; great granddaughter, Ayla; her brother, PJ; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
June was a dedicated teacher and counselor for over 27 years in Edmonton.
She was an avid baker, voracious reader and a talented amateur seamstress with a renowned sense of style who loved nothing better than to laugh and share a good story. She was courageous, fiercely loyal to her family and friends and valued her independence to the end. A political and current affairs junkie, CBC Radio 1 and PBS were her favorite sources of information and occasionally consternation. June was a life-long and proud Liberal who may have chosen to leave this earth rather than face a Conservative majority government.
June was predeceased by her parents, Jimmy and Vera Clooney and her sister, Sheelagh.
Special thanks to the dedicated ICU staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for their tireless care and support in her final days.
At June\'s request, there will be no Funeral Service. Cremation has taken place and for those who would like to pay their last respects, a Visitation has been scheduled for Thursday May 19, 2011 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 St., Edmonton from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Relatives and friends will be notified of the date and time of a planned Memorial Celebration of June\'s life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on her behalf to the \'Wings of Providence\' Women\'s Shelter, P.O. Box 32141, Edmonton, Alberta, T6K 4C2.
