Obituary
 
died suddenly on Saturday, April 30, 2011 while visiting family in Calgary. He recently celebrated his 81st birthday on April 21, 2011 with great gusto with family and many friends. Alan leaves his loving wife of over 57 years, Mary Joan (Mel), his children and grandchildren: David (son Spencer), Joanne (Wolf Gut), John (step-daughter Shannon, daughter Cassandra, son Reid), Jane Monaghan (Frank and daughters Emma and Bronagh). He is also survived by his sisters Shirley Covey and Janet Bentley (David) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Esther and William and brothers Ralph, Ken and Bill. Alan was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan and moved to Edmonton where he attended Garneau Junior High, Scona and University High schools. He graduated in Law from the University of Alberta in 1952. He formed his own firm Covey & Behm and later associated with the law firm Nicholl and Akers, retiring January 1st, 2000. Alan had many interests over his years Ė an officer in the Reserve Army, and a long time supporter of the Edmonton Eskimos, owner of thoroughbred race horses and a farm on the Pembina River. He volunteered through active involvement in provincial politics and by serving on the boards of Bent Arrow and the Friends of the University Hospitals. A celebration of Alanís life will be held at Robertson-Wesley United Church, 10209-123 St. on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. A special thank you to Dr. D. Strilchuk for years of special care.
