John “Jack” McCreath Laurie of Edmonton passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 88 years. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Doreen (Dave) Freeman and Betty-Ann (Don) Hampshire; two granddaughters, Karen (Rupert) Evans and Michelle (Sebastian) Haager; three great-grandchildren, Rhys, Rowan and Cohen as well as many extended family and friends. Jack was predeceased by his loving wife Catherine “Rena”; parents, William and Jane; four brothers, Thomas, Robert, William and James as well as two sisters, Jean and Elizabeth.
Jack served overseas in the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War. Upon his return he worked for Eaton’s Department Store and eventually joined Imperial Oil at the original start of the Edmonton refinery and was later involved in the Strathcona Refinery.
