Our darling man left us with a quiet and peaceful ending to a well lived life. After suffering from Mesothelioma for almost two years, his courageous and inspiring fight is now over.
He was surrounded with love as he left this world from Rosemarie, his wife of almost 44 years, his daughters Claire (Troy) Pederson, Angie (Jeff) Stayko and son Nolan (Kristine) Hayday. He leaves to mourn his loss his adored grandchildren, Gavin, Brynne and Owen Pederson and Madison Stayko. His much loved mother in law, Ellen Sillence, brothers in law Geoffrey (Elizabeth) and Bernard (Sara) Sillence and many other family members . He leaves one sister Lily (Vernie) Franklin in Florida and their extended family. He will be sadly missed by his many friends especially those he made through the St.Albert RoadRunners and Triathlon club and the Castledowns YMCA. He will also be missed by his adopted black lab Rosie. He was predeceased by his parents Lillian & Frank Hayday, his sister Jean and his Father in law, Bert Sillence.
Frank owned and operated Karl Hager Limb & Brace with his wife and children for the past 31 years. He is well known and respected by his peers. He designed and manufactured many specialty type knee braces and other specialty Orthotics and prosthetics. The company is being left in good hands to continue the legacy.
He was an avid gardener and was known for his beautiful Dahlia’s he grew every year.
In 2001 he pursued the sport of Triathlon and succeeded in representing Canada at the World Cup Championships of Triathlon in 2002 in Cancun. He qualified for New Zealand and Madiera in 2003 and 2004 but didn’t attend due to injury. In 2005 he qualified and raced at this event in Hawaii. He loved the sport, especially the gear... Look Good – Feel Good – Do Good ...was his motto. He competed in many triathlons throughout Canada and in London, UK. He was at his happiest when he raced along on his bike – he LOVED the bike.
A very special thank you is extended to the staff of the Mel Miller 9Y Unit at the Edmonton General Hospital. Thank you for your caring and special attention you gave to Frank during his stay.
