At the age of 97, Phil passed away peacefully in Edmonton on Thursday, November 25, 2010. He was born April 15, 1913 in Opal, Alberta and went on to graduate from the University of Alberta. He began his teaching career in Charron, Alberta where he met his wife Marie. Phil joined the R.C.A.F. and served as a radar technician in theatres of heavy action throughout Europe in WWII. At the war’s end he continued his teaching career. He retired from teaching for Edmonton Catholic Schools on June 30, 1974, ending his tenure as Principal of St. Matthew School. Some of his passions were stream fishing, curling, dancing and golfing. He also enjoyed summers with his family at his cottage on Lac St. Anne and winters in Arizona with his many friends. He is survived by his wife, Marie; brother, Henry (Stella); children, Noella (Vince), Don (Gloria), Rita (Larry) and Rod; 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
A Prayer Service will be held at Connelly- McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton, on Tuesday, November 30 at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edmund Catholic Church, 13120-116 Street, Edmonton on Wednesday, December 1 at 11:00 a.m.
