She is survived by her loving husband of over 50 years, John Francis Bourchier; her seven children: Anne-Marie (Mario) Phoenix, Eric (Judy), Michael, Nicole (Ernie) Craft, Pamela (Paul) Smith, Anthony and Jerome; her 12 Grandchildren, Kyanna, Joré, Kyra-Anne, Cassandra, Brennan, Keegan, Joshua, Ethan, Zen, Evelyn, John and Keltie; sister to late Leo (Lou) Burns, late Kenneth (late Joan) Burns, Irma (late Clarence) Worms, late William (Joan) Burns, Pat (Claire) Beaudry, Harvey (Rita) Reid, late Gerry (Leona) Kervin, Rodney (Ginette) Burns, Carol Ann (Ron) Jacobs, late Raymond (Jane) Burns, John (Candy) Burns, Stephen (Diane) Burns and Paul Burns; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Doreen was predeceased by her parents, George and Ethel Burns and her stepmother Sarah.

Doreen was very fond of and devoted to her seven children and twelve grandchildren. She was loved dearly by family, friends and neighbours (especially those on Gladstone Cr) and became a second mother to her children’s friends.

Doreen was often involved in collection of funds for many charities over the years including the Diabetes Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Lung Association, Cancer Foundation and many more. She happily volunteered to help with fundraising for her children’s sports activities, as well as, for Scouts and Pathfinder’s Associations.

Doreen was also active with Elections Canada over the years and volunteered to help the political campaigns of local Alberta Liberals.

For those who wish to pay their last respects, a Visitation will be held at St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, on March 25, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. till 2:00p.m. A Funeral Service and celebration of Doreen’s life will be held at the same location, on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow to share stories and visit with family and friends. We would ask that you please wear green in honour of Doreen, as it was her favourite colour.

She will be greatly missed, but fondly remembered by the many people who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta, 10531 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton, AB, T5H 4K1.
