Obituary

Bernhard Franz Arlinghaus (Bernie), 74, of St. Albert passed away peacefully with family by his side November 2, 2012.

He was born in Brockdorf, Germany, March 16th, 1938 to parents Josef and Maria. At age 19, Bernie immigrated to Canada where he became an accomplished cabinet maker, a devoted husband, an honorable father, and an adored Opa. He will be forever remembered by those who knew him as a man of integrity.

Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Pam; his children, Elizabeth (Todd), Charles (Nancy) and Brett (Dolci); and grandchildren, Jessie, Colby, Athena, Reeve, and Tayte. He is also survived by his siblings, Elisabeth Bruning, Josef, Werner (Christa), Heinz (Christa), Otto (Elsbeth), Gertrud Gravemeyer (Hans), Eileen Skelly and Brenda (Roy) Cunliffe and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Josef Bruning and his sister-in-law, Monika.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 9th at 1:00 pm at St. Albert Parish, 7 St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert.

Donations may be made to the Honduras Missions Project; cheques payable to Sturgeon Valley Baptist Church, 51 Woodlands Road, St. Albert, AB T8N 3Y5. Please write “Arlinghaus Memorial” in the memo line.
