Resident of St. Albert Marek Jerzy Zep, a loving husband and outstanding father, passed away on November 4, 2010.
Marek Jerzy Zep was born in Warsaw, Poland on October 25, 1949 to parents Teodor and Lucjana. Marek was a bright and talented student with a gift for electronics and a love for music. He graduated from the prestigious Warsaw Technical University with a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering. Marek found success in many careers including teaching and research at his alma mater before immigrating to Canada in 1981.
After coming to Canada, Marek travelled the world exhaustively, and enjoyed Canadian freedoms most take for granted. Finding a successful career in computer consulting and going on to start a family, Marek eventually settled in the peaceful city of St. Albert. Throughout the years Marek never lost touch with his passions, he remained an avid supporter and patron of Edmonton Opera and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra until his last days.
Marek is survived by his loving wife, Jadwiga, and son Alexander. His absence is mourned by both family and friends in Canada as well as in Poland. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Poland Church, 9906-83 Avenue in Edmonton, on Saturday, November 13 at 11:00 am.
Marek Zep was a man constantly planning for the future, with a firm belief that tomorrow could be a better day; as such, friends who so wish may make memorial donations directly to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.
