Obituary
 
On July 9, 2012 Effie Nelson of St. Albert, Alberta and formerly of Athabasca, passed away peacefully from a malignant brain tumor.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Karen (Doug) Smilski and Koree (Chris) Mills; and her grandchildren, Ayden, Dale and Madison; as well as numerous family members and dear friends.

Respecting Mom’s wishes, a cremation has taken place. A private interment will take place at a later date.

In celebration of Mom’s life friends are invited to join family at a Memorial Gathering at Connelly-McKinley – St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert on Sunday, July 15, 2012 between 12:00 pm and 2:00 p.m.

The family thanks the many family and friends that visited and supported Mom throughout her life and illness. They also thank the many healthcare professionals and staff that cared for Mom at Rosedale (St. Albert), the Sturgeon Community Hospital, Good Samaritan Southgate, the University of Alberta Hospital and Norwood Palliative Hospice.

In lieu of flowers or other tributes, donations in Mom’s memory can be made to the Edmonton Humane Society, 13620-163 Street, T5V 0B2, Norwood Palliative Care Unit, 10410-111 Avenue, T5G 3A2 or a charity of one’s choice.
