Obituary
 
Linda Jeanette Smashnuk passed away at the Sturgeon Community Hospital on June 17th, 2012 at the age of 64 years, surrounded and comforted by her loving family.

Diagnosed with lung cancer in October of 2011, Linda spent her final months bravely facing her illness, and taking care of her family, with a dedication of spirit and resolve that defined her personality.

Linda is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bruce, daughter Wendy Delainey, and grandchildren, Jennifer, Evan, and Matthew; Linda is also survived by her father, Douglas Paton, sister Bonnie (Ray) Spicer, and nephew Sean; Linda will be missed by Bruce's siblings: Janet, Charlie, Lyla, Lawrey, and Michael, and their families. Linda was predeceaced by her mother Jeanette Paton in 2006.

As per Linda's final wishes, cremation has taken place at Connelly-McKinley. It was her desire that no formal memorial service be held. In keeping with Linda's love and enjoyment of life, it was her wish that family and friends gather in celebration and happiness of a life well lived and a woman well loved.

We invite Linda's family and friends to join us at the family home in St. Albert on Saturday, June 23rd at 3pm for a casual gathering of food and beverages to honor and celebrate Linda's exceptional life. Please email wdelainey@shaw.ca for directions.

The family would like to thank Dr. Anil Joy of the Cross Cancer Institute, Dr. Ben Mecedo of St. Albert, and the nursing staff on Unit 17 at the Sturgeon Community Hospital.
